Dr Dustin Pomerleau is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon and medical retina specialist. He is experienced at performing retinal detachment repairs, diabetic vitrectomies, and all forms of macular surgery. He also performs cataract surgery and cares for patients with inflammatory eye disease.
Dr Pomerleau completed his ophthalmology specialist training at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He subsequently completed a medical retina fellowship at Duke University and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Alabama. Dr Pomerleau practised in the Northeastern USA for several years before relocating to Australia, where he currently holds consultant posts at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr Pomerleau serves as an investigator in ongoing clinical trials for age-related macular degeneration, as well as pursuing personal research interests in retinal imaging, retinal toxicology, and vitreoretinal surgical outcomes.
Dr Pomerleau is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is also a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
