Dr Justin Friebel

Dr Justin Friebel (MBBS, FRANZCO) is an Associate Ophthalmologist at Eye Surgery Associates who sub-specialises in the area of oculoplastic, eyelid, lacrimal and orbital surgery.  This includes common eyelid malposition conditions such as ectropion, entropion, upper eyelid ptosis, excessive eyelid skin and cosmetic eyelid surgery.  He performs surgical treatment of skin lesions and skin cancers around the eyelids.  For patients suffering from blocked nasolacrimal tear ducts causing eye-watering and infection, he specialises in endoscopic (scarless surgery via the nose) lacrimal surgery.  He also treats cataract (performing conventional cataract surgery and laser-assisted cataract surgery) and pterygium.

Dr Friebel graduated from Monash Medical School and undertook ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.  He then spent several years overseas undertaking subspecialist training in oculoplastic surgery in the United Kingdom and Montreal, Canada.  He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons.  He has public hospital appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and the Alfred Hospital, and is a lecturer involved in teaching medical students, and junior and senior ophthalmology trainees.  He is an anatomy examiner for the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmology.

Dr Friebel loves spending time with his family and is an avid swimmer and kitesurfer.
